On October 25, the opening ceremony of Zhejiang University 2013 sports meeting kicked off at Zijingang track and field. University leaders attending the ceremony included Party Secretary Jin Deshui, President Lin Jianhua, Deputy Party Secretary Zou Xiaodong, Executive Vice President Song Yonghua, Vice President Zhang Tuqiao, Vice President Luo Weidong and directors and deans of most departments and units. Deputy Party Secretary Yan Jianhua presided over the opening ceremony.

The opening ceremony started with the national anthem. Representatives of each department lined up on the lawn making a sea of gorgeous colors. Members of Wenqin Troupe were dressed up with confidence.

In his speech, President Lin reviewed and praised the development of sports undertakings at Zhejiang University in recent years and emphasized the importance of sports to ZJU’s goal of building a world-class university. He sincerely expressed his wish that athletes would fully demonstrate Olympic spirit in the sports meeting and achieve success. Athlete and referee representative took an oath on behalf of all participants.

Party Secretary Jin Deshui announced the official start of “Sunshine fitness run” activity. Participants included faculty members, students, and staffs from all departments.

The sports meeting lasted two days, covering more than 20 regular events and some fun events such as skateboard racing. More than 10 thousand ZJU people participated in the sports meeting.
