On January 13, 2013, headed by Professor Wu Yehai, Director of Department of Public Physical and Art Education, an 18-member delegation of Zhejiang University Men’s Basketball team visited Taiwan at the invitation of Cross-Strait College Basketball Tournament. Universities participating in the event included Taiwan Shih Hsin University, National Taiwan University of Arts, Chinese Culture University, Fu Jen Catholic University, National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, Hsing Wu University, Zhejiang University and so on. In the tournament, Zhejiang University achieved five wins and one loss.

On the noon of Jan. 23, the ZJU delegation arrived at Taiwan. After a short break, the delegation went to the first stop – Shih Hsin University. Shih Hsin University basketball team was one of the best in Taiwan collegiate league. In the match against Shih Hsin University basketball team, ZJU team broke its tight defense, launched counterattack, and finally won the game with 87:77.

On the second day, ZJU team encountered basketball team of National Taiwan University of Arts, the NO. 1 of Taiwan collegiate league. NTUA team made quick attacks. ZJU team took advantage of the weakness in the inside of the opponent. The match was a close one and ZJU team won in the last minute with 81:80.

The third match was against Chinese Culture University. CCU established a friendly relationship with Zhejiang University in 2006. Mr. Chang Jen-Hu, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Chinese Culture University, was a Zhejiang University alumnus and once a member of Zhejiang University Basketball team. At the reception, Mr. Chang and Prof. Wu had in-depth exchanges on sports work at both sides. At the game, Zhejiang University had a victory over CCU team with 103:95.

In the games after that, ZJU team won Taiwan University of Science and Technology and Hsing Wu University. The only loss happened in the game against Fu Jen Catholic University with a 8-point gap.

The brilliant performance of ZJU team won respect. Previously, college basketball teams from the mainland had smaller chance of winning against college teams of Taiwan. The success of ZJU team reflected the development of sports education these years.
