Professor Gui Ying Introduced Campus Drama of Zhejiang University at International Theatre Symposium

At the international symposium Performing China on the Global Stage: People, Culture and Society, Professor Gui Ying of Department of Public Physical and Art Education published a paper “The cultural meaning presented in classic plays at campus arena – drama practice ‘The Orphan of Zhao’ by Black and White Drama Club of Zhejiang University”. Together with 8 directors, Profesor Gui introduced and presented the Black and White version of “The Orphan of Zhao” to people attending the symposium.
 
The nine versions of “The Orphan of Zhao”, including drama, opera, and versions in English and Korea, related a story of an ancient Chinese orphan, and showed the trajectory of cultural flow and inheritance.
 
The works were presented by institutions including British Royal Shakespeare Company, National Theatre of China, Beijing People’s Art Theatre, Beijing Opera, China National Grand Theatre, Shanghai Yue Opera, Henan Opera, Hubei Drum Theatre Academy and etc. The work by Black and White Drama Club was the only campus drama at the symposium.
